History
Descended from the Barbet or Water Spaniel, this breed's name was derived
from the name "Barbichan" which was later shortened to Bichon.
The Bichon Frise originated in the Mediterranean area and was
frequently used as an item of barter by sailors who transported them
from continent to continent.
Disposition
Gentle-mannered and sensitive, the
breed is known for its affectionate cheerful attitude.
Features
The Bichon Frise has a thick, loosely curled coat
colored white or white with patches of gray,
orange, or pale yellow. It has a broad,
slightly rounded head. The Bichon Frise stands
from 8 to 12 inches (20 to 30 centimeters) high
and weighs from 12 to 15 pounds (5.4 to 6.8 kilograms).
Bichons are non-shedding and are, therefore, promoted as
hypo-allergenic.
Availability
Bichon Frise puppies are available from Andora Kennels
several times a year. Most are ready to leave or be shipped
by 8 to 10 weeks of age. We don't ship any puppies unless we
feel they are ready to make the trip.
Puppies will have been given all their necessary
shots before their departure.
