- Eligibility
The student must be a graduating high school senior in the year the scholarship is presented. The student and the student's parent or legal guardian must reside in and be an active telephone subscriber within a Midstate Communications telephone cooperative exchange.
- Application Deadline and Requirements
Applications may be downloaded by clicking on the link below. They are also available from high school counselors or by contacting Chad Mutziger at Midstate Communication, PO Box 48, Kimball, SD 57355 or by calling 778-6221. Applicants must submit a typed or computer generated essay with the application. The applicant must also submit a photo with their completed application for use in the Midstate Messenger newsletter. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 1st of the year the scholarship is to be awarded. Applications should be mailed to:

Kimball, SD 57355 - Judging Criteria
Judging will be done by an independent, impartial committee. Judging will be based on the set for criteria with greatest emphasis being placed on the essay, contributions they have made within their home, school and community and overall appearance of the application.
- Scholarship Award
The scholarship will be awarded during the awards ceremony at the respective school. The scholarship check will be made out in the names of the scholarship recipient and the institution of higher education. The scholarships will be awarded prior to the start of the second semester of the 1st year the student is enrolled at a post secondary school or Vocational Technical Institute in a degree program.
- Scholarship Forfeiture
In the event that the scholarship recipient does not attend school the year they are awarded the scholarship, the recipient shall forfeit the scholarship. Alternates will be selected in the case of scholarship forfeiture.
